The index moved in a range of 247 points, settling at 5,668, a loss of 141 points. Key momentum oscillators such as the moving average convergence divergence, the Relative Strength Index and the Stochastic Slow, both on the daily and the weekly charts, are now in favour of the bears. The NSE index seems to be headed towards the lower end of the Bollinger Band on the weekly charts, which indicates a target of 5,500. The next support could be around the 50-weekly moving average, at 5,405-odd levels. The monthly charts are also fairly bearish and indicate targets of 5,470 and 5,350-odd levels in the near future. |

admin: Notwithstanding the rupee trading near its life-time lows, the local currency is likely to stabilise around 57-58 levels against the dollar in the next one month, according to experts. "After the knee-jerk reaction to the US Fed's statement on reducing its bond buying programme, the rupee is likely to stabilise in the near future. I think, the rupee should be around 57-58 level to a dollar in the next one month as the current account gap improves and foreign fund inflows come," Corporation Bank general manager P Paramasivam, who looks after treasury operations, told PTI. He said the money from the $5.5-billion Unilever offer open to raise its stake in Hindustan Unilever is likely to come in July, which will support the currency. Since April 30, the rupee has fallen by over 10 per cent.

However, it has since then pulled itself back to 59.27 on the back of selling of dollars by banks and exporters as well as RBI intervention.
